Establishing a Residential Utility Account

If you are LEASING, to establish a utility account with the City of Weatherford you will need the following:

  • 24-hour notice required for utility activations. (same day service is not available).
  • An application for service signed by all adults on the lease.
  • A copy of your rental agreement. (We only need the page that has your new address and the occupant names)
  • Copy of driver license if out of state.
  • We will need a Social Security number for every adult listed on the lease.
  • A deposit will be required up to $400.00.
  • A letter of reference from a similar utility for the twelve (12) months prior with perfect payment history can be substituted for the deposit.
  • You will also be billed a $30.00 service fee on your first utility bill.

If you are PURCHASING, to establish a utility account with the City of Weatherford you will need the following:

  • 24-hour notice required for utility activations. (same day service is not available).
  • An application for service signed by all adults living in the residence.
  • Copy of driver license if out of state.
  • We will need a Social Security number for every adult living at the residence.
  • A deposit will be required up to $400.00.
  • A letter of reference from a similar utility for the twelve (12) months prior with perfect payment history can be substituted for the deposit.
  • You will also be billed a $30.00 service fee on your first utility bill.

NOTICE OF RIGHT TO REQUEST CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION

Texas Utilities Code Chapter 182, Subchapter B, provides that as a customer of a government operated utility, you have the right to request confidentiality of the following information in your utility customer account records:

  • Your Address(es)
  • Your Telephone Number(s)
  • Your Social Security Number(s)
  • Any information relating to the volume or units of utility usage or the amounts billed to or collected from you for utility usage

You may request confidentiality of the above information by checking the designated box below. There is now fee associated with this request. Your request for confidentiality will be maintained on file with your account. Please be advised, however, that under controlling law, your confidentiality form does not prohibit the City of Weatherford from disclosing personal information in your account records to:

  • An official or employee of the state, a political subdivision of the state, or the Unite States acting in an official capacity
  • An employee of a utility acting in connection with the employee's duties
  • A consumer reporting agency
  • A contractor or subcontractor approved by and providing services to the utility, the state, a political subdivision of the state or the United States
  • A person for whom you have contractually waived confidentiality for personal information
  • Another entity that provides water, wastewater, sewer, gas, garbage, electricity or drainage service for compensation
